What is optical mark recognition?

Optical mark recognition (OMR) is the automatic reading of marked boxes on paper answer sheets from a scanner or camera image. It lets multiple-choice paper tests be digitised without manual entry. Reading accuracy should be verified by comparing against a manual check of sample sheets.

How Measura uses it

In Measura, outcome-tagged answer sheets are scanned and read, and results go onto the same outcome map as on-screen checks. Existing paper tests carry on unchanged, and schools with few devices can take part. In a pilot, reading accuracy is measured on sample sheets and reported.
