What is item analysis?

Item analysis is the statistical examination of how each question (item) on a test behaves. It usually looks at the share of students who answer correctly, how well the item separates higher from lower achievers, and how often each distractor is chosen. The results help decide whether to keep an item, revise it or drop it.

How Measura uses it

Measura does not assume how hard a question is; it tests that against real answers. A question that misleads high-achieving students or draws objections goes to an assessment specialist. If the answer key is corrected, affected scores and suggestions are recalculated.
